ViDA is affecting each country across the EU, and by 2030, all 27 EU Member States will need to be live with their government-mandated e-invoicing programme. 2026 is a significant year for ViDA, with Poland, Belgium, Greece, Croatia, and France coming online.
With these developments in Europe accelerating global implementation timelines, the shift from voluntary e-invoicing to mandated e-invoicing is seismic, and the implications across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, and IT are significant. One destination point, however, might not be clear to us today. As we busy ourselves with figuring out timelines, whether our ERP can help with our e-invoicing programme, how we can be compliant in the next round of countries, we might be missing that the "end game" here could easily be government pre-filled Tax returns.
