Spain is a complaint territory for Kofax, and our teams have closely observed e-invoicing developments as Spain’s B2B e-invoicing initiative became more vocal at the turn of 2023.

However, as we reported last month, Spain’s e-invoicing progress has been hindered, significantly owing to political circumstances in the country, where General Elections did not yield conclusive results. This has somewhat curtailed Spain’s e-invoicing trajectory for now.

Considering this, there are now some indications that Spain’s projected e-invoicing mandate will now commence from January 2025. It is important to note that Spain’s government has not officially confirmed this date, but all indications suggest that the originally envisaged July 2024 start date will no longer be a realistic possibility.
