Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) transitional phase- Provision for default values
Tungsten Automation has been following the progress of the CBAM tax, which aims to further environmental agendas by taxing carbon emissions. As previously reported, the first emission values were due to be reported by 31 January 2024.
The tax is complex, and part of the challenge has centred around communicating the complexities of the tax to impacted entities.
The European Commission has been adopting a piecemeal approach to disseminating guidance concerning the intricacies associated with the tax. This month, they have provided default values which customers can use for reporting purposes. The default values in principle should help simplify the reporting process.
Further guidance relating to the default values can be found here.
